Mugham concert held in old church, situated in the center of Strasbourg

A concert has been held with the performance of “Garabagh” mugham group on the occasion of 650th anniversary of Imadaddin Nasimi and 25th anniversary of National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO in Strasbourg, France, Permanent Representation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe told APA.

Officials of the Council of Europe, representatives of diplomatic corps, representatives of local academic and public circles, as well as members of Azerbaijan Community attended the concert, held in an old Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune church, situated in the center of Strasbourg, with joint initiatives of Permanent Representation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe and National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO.

Opening the ceremony, Fakhraddin Ismayilov, Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe spoke about the purpose and significance of this cultural event being held in Strasbourg, which is considered the capital of Europe.

Then, Secretary-General of the UNESCO National Commission Elnur Sultanov spoke about Nasimi's creativity, emphasizing his role in the development of Azerbaijani language stated that human has a central part in his works.

He informed on the direction of activities of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on UNESCO's 25th anniversary and cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO, highlighting the exceptional services of First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva in the development of this cooperation.

People's Artist of Azerbaijan Mansum Ibrahimov and young singer Sadaf Budagova, accompanied by honored artists Elchin Hashimov (tar), Elnur Ahmedov (kamancha) and Kamran Karimov (drum) performed mugams recited Nasimi's ghazals.
