“The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can only be resolved peacefully”, - NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, and the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai said at a news conference today in Yerevan, ONA reports.

“NATO does not interfere into conflict resolution, but peace and security in the region is of direct interest to NATO partners and allies,” Appathurai said, adding that the organization supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group.

He said NATO encouraged by the substantial reduction in direct fire on the line of contact as well as mechanisms applied for prevention of escalations.

"NATO's assessment that there can only be peaceful resolution to this dispute. There will be no successful military solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue," Appathurai concluded.
