"We want to resolve the conflict on the Korean peninsula peacefully, without the smell of gunpowder," Choe Ryong Hae, president of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, said it today at a debate during the XVIII Baku Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the countries participating in the Non-Aligned Movement.

The Speaker of the Korean Parliament said that after the June 12 meeting between the United States and North Korea, the negotiations ended: “Unfortunately, the tension between the two countries is increasing. This is due to the anarchist, obsolete US policy. The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, said that the United States should act from a new position. We suggested that the United States continue nuclear disarmament on the peninsula. Last year, North Korea’s many offers remained unanswered. Our supporters in the South, North and around the world are disappointed with this.”

Choe Ryong Hae noted that restoring peace on the Korean peninsula depends on the leadership of South Korea: “We do not want a war on the peninsula. And we want the Non-Aligned Movement to serve these goals. Non-Aligned movement members must condemn violence. The attacks of imperialist circles cannot force us to turn off the path of sovereignty and put pressure on us. We want the situation on the peninsula to remain stable. ”
