“UN considers the territorial integrity of states and inviolability of borders important” President of the UN General Assembly Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, told reporters, APA reports.

He stated that the UN has provided its support to the formation of international law and considers the inviolability of state boundaries essential and demonstrates it with the adoption of resolutions.

“The borders of countries must not be changed, it must stay untouched. We do not recognize borders that have been changed by force without an agreement. The General Assembly has a standpoint and this remains unchanged. There must be a mechanism that these issues can be resolved. The UN’s role would be to assist in that mechanism. Negotiations are in progress between the two countries. We support the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Garabagh conflict”, he emphasized.
