Russian MFA issues a statement on the 25th anniversary of the signing of Ceasefire Agreement

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has released a statement regarding the 25th anniversary of the ceasefire agreement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, It is published on the official website of the Russian MFA, ONA’s Moscow Bureau reports.

It has been noted in the statement that on May 12, 25 years have passed from the ceasefire agreement signed by Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh representatives has put on power: “The agreement has been obtained by the direct mediation of Russia and created an opportunity to stop massive bloodshed and initiate regulation process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict by political-diplomatic means. The agreement of May 12 still remains the basis for the preservation of the cease-fire.

The process of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement is complicated. He is experiencing ups and downs. It takes time and the political will of its participants to reach agreement on key aspects of the settlement. We see the readiness of the parties to continue joint work aimed at achieving sustainable peace. The results of the recent meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Vienna and of the talks of the ministers in Moscow testify to this, in particular.

For our part, we will actively assist Baku and Yerevan in the search for compromise solutions. As before, we will continue to make consistent mediation efforts in the framework of the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group together with the United States and France, ”the statement said.
