Federica Mogherini: "Nagorno-Karabakh settlement would be beneficial for the entire region"

The settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict would extremely be beneficial not only for the people involved directly but also for the entire region allowing the region to use its full potential from all different aspects, the Higher Representative of the EU, Federica Mogherini said at the press conference following plenary session of the 16th meeting of the EU-Azerbaijan Cooperation Council, ONA reports.

Mogherini said that although the OSCE and Minsk Group have a leading role in the negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia "from the beginning the EU has been extremely supportive of this process politically and diplomatically including with the work of EU Special Representative, and also with concrete actions."

Mogherini stressed the importance of people-people contacts in the way of settlement of the conflict.

Recall that the EU-Azerbaijan Cooperation Council is held in Brussels.

It has been chaired by the Foreign Affairs Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini has led the EU delegation.
