Azerbaijan’s main priority is to promote the formations, principles and goals of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) at the international level, including in the European continent, Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, APA reports.

He noted that Azerbaijan will also seek to promote such goals to form relations based on the rule of law and respect for the Ten Principles of Bandung.

“Today, tension in international relations is growing, and in this context, the Non-Aligned justifies its significance,” Hajiyev said.

The NAM statements express support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and internationally recognized borders and calls for the resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions, the spokesman emphasized.

“A similar paragraph was adopted at the previous NAM summit and ministerial meeting. This issue will also be discussed during this year’s conference as international peace and security issues, as well as resolution of conflicts are one of the key issues for the organization,” Hajiyev added.

On April 5-6, Baku will host the Non- Aligned Movement Mid-Term Ministerial Conference on the theme of “Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development”.
