Aktau to host summit of Caspian states: Kazakh president

Aktau will host the Summit of the Heads of State of the Caspian littoral countries, where leaders and delegations of five countries will take part, announced President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, APA reported citing Kazinform.

The president made the remarks at a meeting with the Governor of the country’s Mangistau region Yeraly Tugzhanov on June 5.

The Kazakh leader pointed out the need for careful consideration of the summit organizational issues.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin early announced that the summit of the Caspian states would be held in August this year. The Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan announced that the summit would be held in Astana.

The last meeting of the Ad Hoc working group on the development of a convention on the Caspian Sea’s legal status took place in Astana on May 21-24, 2018.
