Ceremony of laying first border markers on Azerbaijani-Russian border held - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

A ceremony of laying the first border markers on the Azerbaijani-Russian border was held in Zukhul village of country’s Gusar district on Feb. 22, APA’s northern bureau reported.

Delegations of the Azerbaijani State Border Service (SBS) and the Border Service of the Russian Federal Security Service, members of the State commissions on border delimitation and demarcation between Azerbaijan and Russia attended the ceremony.

After the laying the first border marker on the Azerbaijani-Russian border, Chief of the SBS, Colonel General Elchin Guliyev, Chairman of the State commission on border delimitation and demarcation between Azerbaijan and Russia, Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, Chairman of the State commission on border delimitation and demarcation between Russia and Azerbaijan Vadim Postnov, Head of the delegation of the Border Service of the Russian Federal Security Service, Lieutenant General Alexey Buyerov addressed the event.

It was noted that the demarcation of the state border will successfully be finalized in the near future.

A ceremony of laying the first border markers on the Azerbaijani-Russian border will be held at Zukhul border checkpoint today, APA’s northern bureau reported.

Officials of both countries will attend the event.

The next meeting on demarcation of the state border between Azerbaijan and Russia and a ceremony to mark the border with Russia will be held after Feb. 20, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said on Jan. 20.
