Chairman of the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Sajjad Karim has commented on why the Azerbaijani side’s proposal to stop Armenia from resettling Syrian Armenian refugees in Nagorno-Karabakh was not included in the joint statement of the committee’s 15th meeting in Baku.
A number of amendments had been discussed before the joint statement was put to the vote, Karim told a press conference following the meeting.
"There is a solid ground for discussions between the two parliaments. The statement supports cooperation. As regards the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the statement expresses support for the peace negotiations. What’s important is that open dialogue on the settlement of the conflict receives support,” he added.
