A number of serious issues related to Azerbaijan will be discussed at the upcoming summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Chairman of theAzerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on foreign and inter-parliamentary relations, MP Samad Seyidov told reporters on June 9, APA reports.
He said that the results of the April 11 presidential election in Azerbaijan will be discussed on the first day of the session.
“It’s very interesting that this issue is discussed a few months after the presidential election. The Azerbaijani delegation will address the session about this issue. We will state our position. As you know, some time ago the UN discussed the recent presidential election in Azerbaijan,” the MP noted.
Seyidov said that there is a possibility of pressure on Azerbaijan under the name of “political prisoner”.
“We are seriously concerned about one issue. Taking this opportunity, some circles want to bring to the session’s agenda the issue of appointing a rapporteur for Azerbaijan on political prisoners. I think that the appointment of a rapporteur is not a constructive approach,” he added.
