Turkish president arrives in Azerbaijan

President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan embarked on an official visit to Azerbaijan on Tuesday.

At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, Erdogan was welcomed by Azerbaijani First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkey Khazar Ibrahim, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Erkan Ozoral and other officials, APA reports citing the Turkish media.

This is the Turkish president’s first foreign trip after the victory in the June 24 presidential elections.

During the visit, Erdogan will visit the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrdom.

The presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey will hold a one-on-one meeting in Baku, which will be followed by a meeting in an expanded format with the participation of delegations.

Following the meetings, the heads of state will hold a joint press conference.

Erdogan is scheduled to leave Azerbaijan for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
