Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“It is my pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the Republic Day,” Guterres said in his letter.
“The United Nations is enriched by the diversity of its membership, and our mission is strengthened when “We the Peoples” come together to uphold the values enshrined in our founding Charter. At this time of global challenges but also great potential, those ideals are the glue that can hold us together.”
“As you mark this national day, I want to assure you of my active engagement to build on effective United Nations and to advance peace, sustainable development and human rights for all. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration,” the UN chief said.
