Alternative route to Lachin Corridor to start operation from April 1, 2023 - Russian MFA

"A new route along Lachin Corridor connecting Armenia and Karabakh will start to operate from April 1, 2023," said Director of the Fourth Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry for CIS Countries Denis Gonchar in an interview with RIA, APA's bureau in Moscow reports.

"Main result of the work done over the recent month has been getting a general agreement on the start of a new route along Lachin Corridor to operate from April 1, 2023. In addition, since August 30, the traffic is carried out on a temporary route located in the safety lane of the old corridor road bypassing the city of Lachin and other settlements located within the zone," stressed Russian diplomat.

He noted that as a result of the agreement between the sides of Armenia and Azerbaijan and in coordination with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, the relocation of the residents of the settlements located in the security zone of the old corridor route was completed on August 24: "It is of the utmost importance that the working regime of the Lachin Corridor does not change. Russian peacekeepers have been moved to a temporary road and they will move to a new route by April 1, 2023."
