Ambassador: "Hikmet Hajiyev held important meetings in Washington"

Recently, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, visited Washington and held important meetings there, said the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger, APA reports.

The Diplomat recalled that Hikmet Hajiyev met in Washington with US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

According to him, Hikmet Hajiyev and Jake Sullivan discussed, among other issues, the peace process in the region.

"We believe that the United States can play an important role in the normalization process. We now see that the European Union is successful in contact with the parties, and we strongly support it. They mediate direct contacts and meetings between the parties. Talks continue with leaders, foreign ministers and other levels, discussing the delimitation of borders and the opening of communications in the region," Mr. Litzenberger said.
