"Our position on the issue of the removal of illegal Armenian armed groups from Karabakh is absolutely firm. The tripartite statement also answers this," Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov said at the year-end press conference in response to a question about how the disarmament of illegal Armenian armed groups in the liberated territories will be carried out, APA reports.

The minister said that in many cases, Armenian officials claim that this applies to the Armenian armed forces: "But they have not fulfilled this. A lot of evidence proves it. However, the tripartite statement talks about the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Karabakh. All armed units were to be withdrawn when the peacekeeping contingent was deployed there."

The head of the MFA noted that they raise this issue in continuous meetings: "The position of the Russian side is that this is a tripartite statement, and Armenia is also a signatory to it. This is Armenia's obligation, and Armenia must ensure the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Karabakh. This is really an obligation of Armenia and they are violating this obligation. In parallel, it creates tension in the region. In many cases, the cause of tension in Karabakh is the activity of illegal armed groups there."
