Armenia's appeal to the Security Council is directly related to Azerbaijan's execution of local anti-terrorism measures within its sovereign territory, fully in line with international law, including humanitarian norms. Consequently, Armenia's subsequent appeal to the Security Council represents an overt violation of the requirements outlined in the UN Charter, which stress the respect for states' sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as non-interference in their internal affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov said in his speech at the meeting of the UN Security Council, APA reports.

The minister emphasized that the Security Council being misused in such a manner is completely unacceptable, constituting a serious blow to the authority and influence of this esteemed body. He highlighted the imperative need for an outright rejection of this misuse: "In fact, today, when the Council was called upon to discuss concerns allegedly related to the rights and security of the Armenian-origin residents in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, anti-terrorism operations in the area have been suspended, thereby practically creating opportunities for the reintegration of the Armenian-origin residents of the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan."
