Azerbaijan and Bulgaria Foreign Ministries held political consultations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria have held the next political consultations, Press Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

Azerbaijan, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, and Bulgaria, led by Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Vasil Georgiev, were the delegations.

Noted with satisfaction that the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries will be celebrated on June 5, 2022, and the successes achieved in the development of our bilateral relations during this period.

The current state of relations between the two countries was considered, and opportunities for expanding cooperation in various fields, including energy, science and information technology, tourism, agriculture, culture and humanitarian spheres were discussed. At the same time, they exchanged views on the current development and future prospects of trade and economic relations between the two countries, and noted the need for direct trade relations between small and medium-sized businesses.

Deputy Minister Khalafov briefed the other side on the new political realities in the region after the Patriotic War, the measures taken by Azerbaijan and large-scale projects on the restoration and construction work carried out in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation. He spoke about the efforts of our IDPs to return to their homeland with dignity and ensure lasting stability and security in the region.

Deputy Minister V.Georgiev noted with satisfaction that the meetings held by the delegation led by him during his visit to Azerbaijan were fruitful. He noted that Azerbaijan is an important and reliable partner both in the South Caucasus and internationally. He said his country was ready to discuss opportunities for cooperation in large-scale economic and trade projects of mutual interest. Georgiev noted with satisfaction that Bulgarian Foreign Minister Theodora Genchovska had invited Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to his country.

The parties exchanged views on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria within international organizations and regional and international security issues of mutual interest.

Emphasizing the importance of the mechanism of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, they agreed to continue visits and meetings.
