"Yesterday I had a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. We had discussed mutual economic and political relations which are on a high-level," Latvian President Egils Levits told journalists at the 10th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
He also stressed that situation in Ukraine and EU-Azerbaijan relations had been discussed.
“Azerbaijan is a significant and reliable partner of EU. I should especially higlight Azerbaijan's role in the issue of energy supply. We will continue to make steps for development of relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan. We have stopped gas import from Russia, EU is looking for new suppliers to ensure its energy safety. Relations between Azerbaijan and EU in this direction are on a high level," said the President.
