On September 10, 2022, 12 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who were detained in the Amerna camp in the city of Jarablus of the Syrian Arab Republic were repatriated to our country. Among those repatriated, the 7- and 10-year-old siblings lost their parents, APA reports citing the Foreign Ministry.

The return of repatriates to our country was realized as a result of phased and coordinated measures by the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. First of all, their location, identity, and affiliation to the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan were determined, and then, based on the agreement, their transit through the territory of the Republic of Turkiye was ensured.

Initial medical and psychological examination of the repatriates was carried out by representatives of the working group sent to the Republic of Turkey, which includes the relevant state institutions responsible for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens from the Arab Republics of Iraq and Syria. Repatriates were provided with the necessary assistance and "return certificates to the Republic of Azerbaijan" and flight tickets by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Turkiye.
