Azerbaijan was invited to meeting in "NATO+partners" format-UPDATED

Today, a meeting in an expanded format was held with partners on energy security within the framework of the Military Committee, the highest military structure of the Alliance, at the headquarters of NATO in Brussels, Mission of the Republic ofAzerbaijan to NATO told APA.

Esmira Jafarova, Ph.D., Board member of the Center of Analysis of International Relations representing Azerbaijan, made a presentation on the country's successful energy policy, as well as its contributions to energy security at the global and regional level. Within the framework of her visit to NATO HQ, the representative of Azerbaijan also held bilateral meetings with the Head of Climate and Energy Security Section of NATO and the leadership of the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence.

During the discussions, Esmira Jafarova informed ally and partner countries about visionary energy strategy of the country, which has turned Azerbaijan into a reliable partner in global energy security, the important role played by the Southern Gas Corridor in Europe's energy security, the opportunities and perspective projects that Azerbaijan can present in the context of renewable energy sources.

NATO member states highlighted that Azerbaijan is a reliable and important partner of the Alliance. The allied countries highly valued the positive role played by Azerbaijan in Europe's energy security, and touched on the significance of the work done and future projects.

Today, Azerbaijan for the first time, is among the few partner countries to have been invited to the meeting of the NATO Military Committee to be held on energy security in the "NATO+partners" expanded format, Head of Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to NATO Jafar Huseynzada noted on his Twitter account, APA reports.

He stressed that the Board member of the Center of Analysis of International Relations of Azerbaijan Dr. Jafarova Esmira will give a briefing on energy security to the Allied Nations and invitees at NATO HQ.

Jafar Huseynzada added that along with this, Dr. Jafarova will hold bilateral meetings with Mr. Michael Ruhle, the Head of Climate and Energy Security Section of NATO and the leadership of the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence in Lithuania.
