Azerbaijani Deputy FM: Iran still hasn't elucidated the reason of its citizens' visit to Khankandi

We believe that Armenia is again keen on illegal use of Lachin road contrary to the trilateral statement, said Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov at a briefing, regarding the decision of the ICJ on the application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, held on February 22, 2023, APA reports.

“By illegal use it refers to rotation of Armenian military contingent that has not been withdrawn from Karabakh, transportation of exploited minerals through that road to Armenia and its export to international markets, bringing some persons to the area by third party countries, especially Iran Islamic Republic that Iran has not yet elucidated the latter,” the minister stressed.

Recalling that in December of last year, a corresponding protest note was sent to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to clarify the news about the illegal crossing of citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbiajani territories.
