Azerbaijani embassy in Israel organized first official event on occasion of Independence Day

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the State of Israel held an official event on the occasion of the Independence Day of Azerbaijan for the first time in this country, APA reports.

Minister of Intelligence of Israel Gila Gamliel, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev, Member of the Knesset and Chair of Israel-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group ⁦Vladimir Beliak, Yisrael Beytenu party chief Avigdor Liberman, other members of Knesset, Defense Ministry Director-General of Israel Eyal Zamir, President of International Charitable Foundation of Mountain Jews, Vice president of the World Jewish Congress German Zakharyayev, authorized representatives of the office of the President and Prime Minister of Israel, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, as well as other government agencies, ambassadors accredited to Israel, city mayors and vice-mayors, university rectors, experts of leading think tanks, media representatives, businessmen, as well as the representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Israel, social and political figures of Israel and Azerbaijani students studying in this country also participated in the event.

Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the State of Israel Mukhtar Mammadov who made the opening speech, stressed that for the first time since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, an official event on Independence Day was held in Israel. The ambassador informed the event participants about the history of Azerbaijan's independence. Mukhtar Mammadov pointed out that Azerbaijan-Israel relations, which were founded by National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and are currently being continued by President Ilham Aliyev, have reached a strategic level.

Then, speaking on behalf of the Israeli Government, Intelligence Minister Gila Gamliel highlighted that the relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect and trust. He recalled with satisfaction the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev held in March, 2023 year and expressed that both countries are working together to ensure peace and stability in the region and the world. She emphasized that the Jewish community living in Azerbaijan has a special role in the development of relations between the two countries.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev said that the year 2023 marks the 105th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Deputy Minister said that Azerbaijani-Israeli relations have seen big progress in various areas, stressing the vast potential for their further development.
