On June 13, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Chairman of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly (GA) Abdulla Shahid, press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
An exchange of views has been conducted at the meeting on Azerbaijan's activity within the framework of the UN, cooperation relations with specified bodies of international organizations, future activity directions, and other issues on agenda.
Greeting the guest minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the visits of chairmen of the UN General Assembly to Azerbaijan have already become a tradition.
The minister has congratulated mister Abdulla Shahid for successfully implementing the chairmanship of the UN General Assembly at a time when the world is going through a very complicated period.
President of UN GA Abdulla Shahid noted that Azerbaijan is one of the most active countries of the UN and voiced congratulations on the occasion of its 30-year anniversary of UN membership.
The sides exchanged views on priority issues of GA chairmanship, as well as work with the youth, climate change, gender equality and other issues.
Chairman of UN GA Abdulla Shahid stated that Azerbaijan’s efforts on sustainable peace establishment in the region and construction works are estimable.
The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest in the UN agenda at the meeting.
