On June 16, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Gebreyesus as part of his participation in the 9th Baku Global Forum, Foreign Ministry told APA.
The parties praised the mutually beneficial cooperation between the WHO and Azerbaijan.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that our country attaches special importance to cooperation with the WHO.
The importance of the projects implemented by the WHO in our country so far, as well as the initiatives put forward by Azerbaijan in the fight against the pandemic was stressed at the meeting.
Director General Tedros Gebreyesus expresses gratitude to Azerbaijan for its assistance to many countries in the fight against COVID-19 and its contribution to global health.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the opposition on the post-conflict reconstruction work in the region and the steps taken to ensure the safe return of IDPs to their homes.
The head of the WHO expressed readiness to provide relevant support to Azerbaijan.
The sides also exchanged views on topical issues of the international agenda.
