On September 7, 2023, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and Yuri Kim, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.

During the telephone conversation, mutual and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, the current situation in the region, as well as the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing comprehensive information about the current situation in the region, emphasized that Armenia's military and political provocations against Azerbaijan, coupled with manipulative distortions of the situation, do not reflect the realities of this country's propaganda aimed at misleading the international community.

It is emphasized that the unwarranted claims of a supposed "difficult humanitarian situation" and "blockade" in the region are unacceptable excuses for interfering in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, including the efforts for the reintegration of Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region into our society.

It is reported that the situation, created by Armenia and its self-proclaimed regime, where agreements reached through the International Committee of the Red Cross for the transportation of goods to Armenian residents via the Aghdam-Shusha road and parallel intensification of the use of the Lachin road by Azerbaijan were violated at the last moment, demonstrates that the situation is not humanitarian but rather a political manipulation.

It has been emphasized by the international community that in the post-conflict era, in order not to miss the historic opportunity for peace and stability in the region, it is crucial to condemn and strongly criticize Armenia's provocative actions, including statements supporting the self-proclaimed regime established in Azerbaijani territories.

Despite Armenia's statements and actions that endanger the peace process, it has been emphasized that we are committed to advancing the normalization agenda. However, it has been underlined that our stance does not compromise our right to defend our integrity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty against any threats.

During the phone call, there was also an exchange of views on other mutually interesting issues.
