"There is a need for greater international attention and allocation of aid to Azerbaijan's demining work," said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in a joint press statement with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell, APA reports.

He thanked the EU for its support to Azerbaijan's demining operations. Demining is a key element of the reconstruction in the post-conflict period: "Since the end of the war in November 2020, as a result of mine explosions, 225 citizens of Azerbaijan have been killed or injured, including 93 civilians. Azerbaijan that its territory is one of the most polluted countries with mines and unexploded ammunition, needs greater international attention and assistance for demining. We thank the EU for humanitarian demining assistance, including the latest package of 40 million euros. We hope that all the relevant agencies we will mobilize will support the demining efforts. We appreciate the EU's efforts to contribute to post-conflict reconstruction in Azerbaijan. Today, European companies participate in various projects in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan".
