On January 27, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the terrorist attack against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran, APA reports citing the ministry.
During the meeting, it was brought to the attention of the party that the armed attack, the act of terrorism on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran is strongly condemned, that such attacks against diplomatic missions are unacceptable, and that it is the duty of the receiving party to protect the building of the embassy from all kinds of attacks and ensure the safety of its employees, based on the "Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations".
In this regard, bringing the one who is the perpetrator of the terrorist act to justice by competent authorities of Iran as soon as possible, investigating the terrorist act thoroughly, and identifying and punishing other participants involved in the organization and commission of the crime were strongly demanded.
In the meeting, it was noted that it is regretful that a planned anti-Azerbaijani campaign was conducted against our country in Iran recently and that what happened further aggravated the already complicated relations.
Iranian ambassador Seyid Abbas Musəvi strongly condemned the armed incident against the Azerbaijani embassy and said that he was deeply saddened by what happened, and expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the embassy employee, as well as to the government and people of Azerbaijan.
The ambassador also noted in the meeting that the interested authoritative bodies of Iran immediately reacted to the incident and the issue is being investigated by the relevant law enforcement bodies, and the detailed information will be announced to the public after the completion of the investigation process.
