"It is known that in previous years, the Parliament of the Kingdom of the Netherlands adopted completely biased resolutions against Azerbaijan, which did not reflect the truth," said Aykhan Hajizade, head of the press service department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.

"We call on the Dutch side to abandon its unilateral position and use the norms and principles of international law in its decisions," said MFA Official.

According to him, putting forward such a proposal at the legislative body of the Netherlands, which turned a blind eye to the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenians nearly 30 years, massacres brutally committed against civilians, looting and vandalism is another sample of a smear campaign against our country: “Moreover, we want to remind to the Netherlands that after the war in 2020, Armenia did not completely withdraw Armenian armed units from Azerbaijani lands, by grossly violating its commitments within the framework of tripartite statements, continues to mining Azerbaijani territories, increased militarization in the regions along the border, hindered the opening of transport communication and took destructive steps against the peace process. It is known to everyone that military tension in the region is not in the interest of the Azerbaijani side at a time when reconstruction works are being carried out by Azerbaijan in the territories liberated from occupation and huge investments are being made and a group of internally displaced families returned to Agali village of Zangilan district near the zone of military tension. When it comes to the nonsense ideas noted in the resolution about Azerbaijan's alleged intention to occupy Armenia's South, we would like to emphasize to the Dutch parliamentarians that based on the reciprocity principle, the Azerbaijani side improves the initiative on normalization of relations with Armenia within the framework of international law and principles, especially sovereignty and territorial integrity."

MFA official noted that it would be beneficial that the Dutch side does not support the revanchist forces in Armenia by hindering the peace process but contribute to the development of the regional countries in the condition of peace, stability, and prosperity by supporting newly emerged security and cooperation frame in the region: "We strongly reject the mentioned draft resolution, we call on the Netherlands side to desist its unilateral position and proceed from the norms and principles of international law in its decisions."
