Azerbaijani MFA: High-level political dialogue has been continued with EU and NATO

Existing dialogue between the EU and Azerbaijan has been characterized with its intensity in 2021, it has been reflected in the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan on finals of 2021, APA reports.

It has been noted that President of the European Council Charles Michel and European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi paid visits to Azerbaijan. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has delivered position and expectations of our country to the opposite side in development of relations with the EU during these contacts, as well as the 6th Summit of Eastern Partnership of the EU in Brussels on December 15: "Support to independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity in the framework of internationally-recognized borders of all partner countries by the EU has been expressed once more in the Joint Declaration adopted at the final of Summit of the Eastern Partnership, which was held physically for the first time over the latest four years.

According to information, high-level political dialogue with NATO has been continued during the year: "Hence, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited NATO's Headquarter at the invitation of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on the sidelines of the Summit of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union held in Brussels on December 15, 2021. Meeting of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was held with NATO Secretary-General within the framework of the visit and a joint press conference was held. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev also participated at the meeting of the North Atlantic Council with the Republic of Azerbaijan in "30+1" format. Contacts with NATO officials at other levels were also continued during the year. NATO Officials and partner countries highly appreciated the exceptional services of our military contingent, involved in force defense and different headquarters tasks in Hamid Karzai International Airport under Command of Turkey on the provision of security of the Hamid Karzai International Airport at the last days of the "Determined support" Mission and creation of a condition for safe evacuation."
