Azerbaijani MFA released information about results of Deputy Minister

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov, who has been on a business trip to the United States of America since May 17, continued his bilateral meetings on May 22-24, Azerbaijani MFA told APA.

In addition, meetings were held with members of the US House of Representatives Chuck Edwards, Pete Sessions, Don Bacon, Madeleine Dean, Adam Smith, Paul Gosar and Beth van Duyne on the mentioned dates.

Azerbaijani-US bilateral relations, the ongoing process and challenges in Azerbaijan were discussed at the meetings. Also, the members of Congress were informed about the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories during the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and the post-conflict period, and it was noted that the landmine problem facing Azerbaijan currently creates a great obstacle for the return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their lands.

On the sideline of the visit, the delegation held meetings at the US State Department. At the State Department, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs Stanley L. Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State overseeing policy for Southern Europe and the Caucasus Erika Olson, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Kara MacDonald .

During the meetings, views were exchanged on the current state and development prospects of Azerbaijan-US relations, regional security issues, demining of liberated territories of Azerbaijan, as well as issues of cooperation between the two countries in military, political, humanitarian and other fields.
