Press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizade, commented on the views expressed by the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, against Azerbaijan during an interview with the public radio channel "France Inter", the information of Azerbaijani MFA says, APA reports.

"The French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Kalona, wrongly calling the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan an "enclave" within Azerbaijan in the form of "Nagorno Karabakh" is a disrespect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as the rights of Azerbaijanis who were subjected to massive ethnic cleansing from this region.

We would like to remind to French minister that the Karabakh region is Azerbaijan’s internationally recognized sovereign area and is an integral part.

Moreover, there is no basis for the French side's claim that the "Lachin" border checkpoint, which was created by Azerbaijan in its sovereign territory and where Armenian residents have already started to cross transparently in both directions, is allegedly blocking the road. Azerbaijan implements the protection of its borders and the transfer from these borders in accordance with the legislation of the country and internationally accepted rules.

The French side must end such inflammatory and provocative ideas which do not serve peace and stability.

Note that during an interview with the public radio channel France Inter, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of France, Catherine Colonna called the Karabakh region an enclave within Azerbaijan inhabited by Armenians.

She once again claimed that Lachin Road was blocked and demanded that the road be opened.
