Azerbaijan's Independence Day celebrated in the U.K-PHOTO

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Great Britain organized an official reception in London on the occasion of May 28th, Independence Day, APA’s London correspondent reports.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Britain Elin Suleymanov, British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan Baroness Emma Nicholson, member of the British House of Lords Lord David Evans, British state and government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in London, the British public, Azerbaijan, and representatives of Turkish communities attended the event at Lancaster House.

The event began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Britain.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Elin Suleymanov, said the day was important in our history, adding that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, established on May 28, 1918, was the first democratic parliamentary republic in the Muslim East.

Talking about the achievements of modern Azerbaijan since the restoration of independence, the ambassador said that today Azerbaijan has become a world-renowned center for dialogue between civilizations and cultures.

The ambassador said that today not only the Independence Day of Azerbaijan was celebrated, but also the restoration of international law in the lands liberated by our country.

He also touched upon bilateral relations between Britain and Azerbaijan, noting that relations are expanding rapidly in all areas.

Elin Suleymanov also noted the high level of cooperation in the energy sector.

Baroness Emma Nicholson stressed the importance of strengthening economic and political relations between Great Britain and Azerbaijan.

He also noted that trade relations are very strong and constantly evolving.

In her speech, the Baroness reminded Queen Elizabeth II of the presentation of the Karabakh horse "Glory" and said that this unusual and beautiful gift was very much appreciated by the Queen.

The Baroness noted that this is a symbol of strong friendly relations between the two countries.

The event continued with a cultural program.

Afterward, national music was played, and dishes from the national cuisine were presented.
