Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova welcomed Chairman of the Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop cordially at their meeting that took place on 16 May, APA reports.

Having started her satisfaction with the high level of the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations, Sahiba Gafarova mentioned the fact that President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan had attended the inauguration of the Rize-Artvin Airport during the working trip to Turkey a few days ago. She spoke with praise of yet another encounter between the leaders of the two states. The inter-state relations are advancing with each passing day; the successes achieved by Azerbaijan and Turkey are only adding to their international reputations, too.

Mrs. Gafarova talked in commending key of the upcoming Turkish participation in the Third General Conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Economic Co-operation Organisation. She also underlined the weight of the matters to be tabled during the conference.

While she told Mr Şentop of the preparations made for the conference, Mrs Gafarova also gave an account of her meetings with the heads of the delegations to join the conference at which, she pointed out, the chairmanship of the Organisation was going to pass from Pakistan to Azerbaijan. And Azerbaijan as the next chair will do everything within its power to boost the organisation’s reputation further and to intensify the links amongst its members more, thus being adamant to discharge its duties with merit.

The Turkish guest was brought up to date on the progress of the large-scale restoration and rebuilding work going on in the liberated Azerbaijani territories. Sahiba Gafarova mentioned the fast-paced fulfillment of immense infrastructural projects, the laying of new roads, and the launch of the airport of Fuzuli that meets the highest standards. Companies from the brotherly Turkey are closely involved in that process, according to Mrs. Gafarova who proceeded to voice her gratitude for the unwavering Turkish backing given to Azerbaijan.

Thanking for the kind welcome given him, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop said that he was glad to be in our country again, adding that he had come to take part in the PAECO Third General Conference and discuss the matters to be tabled at it actively alongside the other participants.

Mustafa Şentop underlined the gravity of the conference agenda’s contents for the member-states whilst also pointing at how much the forthcoming conversations mattered for intensifying the relations. A further intensification of inter-parliamentary relations serves the cause of fulfilling the tasks that the Organisation has before it – just as much as frequent contacts of our parliamentarians do, including where promotion of bilateral inter-legislature connexions is concerned, in the opinion of the Turkish parliament’s speaker.

Then, Mr Şentop talked about the recent visit of the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Turkey. There is nothing like the Turkish-Azerbaijani relations in the whole world; those relations truly are in line with the ‘one nation – two states’ idea, according to the leader of the GNAT.

Other matters in the centre of attention of both sides were discussed, too, as the conversation drew on.
