Working visit of delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov, to United States has kicked off, APA reports.

In the first week of the visit, on May 18, the delegation met with members of the U.S. Senate, Senator Tom Cotton, Senator Ben Cardin, and members of the House of Representatives, Jack Bergman, Chuck Fleischmann, Mike Ezell, and Robert Aderholt.

During the meetings, U.S. side was informed about U.S-Azerbaijan bilateral relations, the processes taking place in the region, as well as peace negotiations with Armenia.

Members of Congress were also briefed on ongoing post-conflict mine threats, recovery and reconstruction efforts.

During the meetings, views were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.

Within the framework of the visit to New York, the delegation met with Edward Mermelstein, Commissioner of International Affairs New York.
