Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, on Wednesday said providing support for Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, and countries in the South Caucasus was “more important than ever,” vowing the EU would continue strengthening ties with the partnering states, APA reports citing Agenda.ge.

Borrell said the EU’s Strategic Compass “clearly stressed” the Union’s intention to boost cooperation in the area of “security and defense” with Eastern Partners.

"We have proposed to increase the non-lethal military assistance measures benefitting Georgia and Moldova. It will support logistics, cyber-defence, military medical, engineering and mobility capabilities,” the EU official said.

He also focused on the Russian aggression in Ukraine by saying it had created a “new reality” for the Eastern Partnership.
