Farid Shafiyev, chairman of the Center for International Relations Analysis, commented on the armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran, APA reports.

"Today, at 8.30 am Azerbaijan's Embassy in Tehran was attacked by an armed man. One Azerbaijan security officer was killed and two wounded.

To remind you - for the past two years, it has been the fifth attack on Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions. The first was in London by a radical religious group linked to Iran; two attacks were committed by radical Armenians in Paris and another by Armenians in Beirut.

According to the 1961 Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the host country bears full responsibility for the security of foreign missions.
Despite Iran officials now announcing that the attacker committed assault for personal reasons, the Iranian authorities are still responsible. Iran should have strengthened measures to protect Azerbaijan's embassy, being aware of its own propaganda campaign against Azerbaijan and the previous attack in London.

It, by the way, concerns other states as Azerbaijan's embassies were under attack from Iranian & Armenian elements worldwide," the post reads.
