“I visited Shusha with Mr. President Ilham Aliyev in late May. Mr. President briefed us on the existing escalation,” Former Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State David Merkel said as he addressed the international conference on "Increasing national and global efforts to clarify the fate of missing persons”, APA reports.
He noted that the international community must make efforts for peace. "I am convinced that my country, as well as others, must work for peace so that there is no escalation between the two countries”.
