Influential German TV Berlin channel broadcasted a report on the recent developments around Lachin road, the Azerbaijani embassy in Germany told APA.
The report also included an interview with the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev.
In an interview, Nasimi Aghayev responded to the baseless claims of some German mass media about the alleged "continuation of the blockade" on the Lachin road, as well as the "deterioration of the humanitarian situation" in the part of Garabagh where the Armenian population lives. He asserted that the transport road presented as the "Lachin Corridor" was actually built and commissioned by Azerbaijan itself after the 44-Day War, as a goodwill gesture for the use of the Armenian population of Garabagh. Armenia has misused this road to transport soldiers, weapons and mines to the part of Garabagh where the Armenian population lives. As a result, Azerbaijan established a border crossing point on that road. After that, Armenians used this road freely. However, on June 15, Armenia resorted to provocation against Azerbaijan and organized an attack on the border crossing point, and for this reason, the use of that road was temporarily restricted.
Nasimi Aghayev emphasized that Azerbaijan offered to open the Aghdam-Khankandi road and provide food to the Armenian population of Garabagh through this road. The Armenian side persistently refused to open the said road and installed concrete barriers on that road.
Azerbaijani ambassador stressed that Azerbaijan is ready to open a new page in relations with Armenia for the sake of establishing peace between nations.
