Germany supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders, the Deputy Spokesman of the German Government, Wolfgang Buchner, clarified the views of German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz at a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Berlin yesterday, APA reports.
“Councilor met with Armenian PM Pashinyan yesterday. We were appealed from the region that we present again the position of the federal government regarding Nagorno Karabakh. The decision of the federal government has not changed. Germany remains committed to the territorial integrity of
Azerbaijan and Armenia within internationally recognized borders. Germany calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to solve the dispute peacefully,” it was stressed.
It was noted that it is important for Germany to respect the rights of residents and minorities in both countries in accordance with international norms and commitments.
“Federal government openly supports the efforts of Charles Michell, the President of the European Union Council,” added Wolfgang Buchner.
