The terrible earthquake in Türkiye brought our countries closer. We were all affected by that earthquake, Christos Capodistrias, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Greece to Azerbaijan told APA.

"Undoubtedly, the sad news about those who lost their lives in the earthquake, their relatives and those who were damaged by the natural disaster had a bad effect on us. I want to note with great pride that Greece is one of the first countries to support Türkiye after the earthquake, and our country helped those affected by the earthquake.

Greece quickly dispatched rescue teams to the earthquake area, and we are very happy that a large number of people - children, women, and old people - were rescued from the rubble by Greek rescuers.

I, in turn, visited the Turkish embassy in Azerbaijan and personally expressed my condolences to Mr. Ambassador Cahit Bagchi regarding those who lost their lives in the earthquake, and wished patience to their relatives.

I would like to emphasize that the head of the Foreign Ministry of our country, Nikos Dendias, visited Türkiye and met with his colleague Mevlut Çavuşoğlu there, and told him that he was affected by the natural disaster and the sad news.

We have always tried to have good relations with Türkiye. Türkiye is our neighbor and Greece is always interested in developing relations with this country within the framework of international law," the ambassador said.
