According to him, as one of the main transit countries along the International East-West Middle Corridor, it is one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan to ensure the security and reliability of transit operations against the background of events that continue to create the risk of disruption of the supply chain.
"Cooperation in the field of energy security is of great importance for Azerbaijan, as one of the foundations of strengthening ties. The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union on July 18, 2022 includes a number of components of energy security, including modernization of energy infrastructure, expansion of cooperation in the development of alternative energy sources. Strengthening efforts in the field of electricity production is also among the priority areas. In terms of strengthening regional communication, various tripartite formats help to expand relations in the region and eliminate existing conflicts, and serve as an important stage for the further development of strategic relations based on mutual interests. Azerbaijan is taking practical steps in the direction of opening communications in the region in accordance with the relevant clause of the Tripartite Statement dated November 10, 2020. In this regard, it is necessary to fulfill obligations on the opening of the Zangezur corridor. This can make an important contribution to the use of the full potential of the region, as well as to the peace-building process," said Jeyhun Bayramov.
