Azerbaijan and Albania have a similar history, both countries were part of the Soviets, the proletariat," Albanian President Bayram Begay said during his speech at the "Heydar Aliyev 100: Life and Legacy" event held at the Haydar Aliyev Center, APA reports.
He said that both countries understand well what life was like during totalitarianism and the recovery process after that because they experienced it: "Azerbaijan had a leader who overcame difficulties during the conflict period, carried out reforms, created new global partnerships, and managed to win the trust of the people. This is not always possible. It is not easy, especially for countries that are going through a transit period and passing through different economic systems. Managing this process is difficult for countries. But President Heydar Aliyev did it wisely."
Bayram Begay also said during his speech that 30 years is a short time, but Azerbaijan has achieved achievements in this short period, which requires genius, and I admire the genius of Heydar Aliyev: "Azerbaijan and Albania today contribute to global peace and stability with energy projects and so on. We share Heydar Aliyev's ambitions for friendship and partnership. We want to see a peaceful, developing, and prosperous Balkans. We will continue to promote the partnership. The two countries are an example of multiculturalism and tolerance. Both countries respect different religions and cultures. We will continue our cooperation and partnership for new generations, and we will move toward prosperity together. "Heydar Aliyev became a visionary regarding the future of Azerbaijan."
