"Iran and Azerbaijan are two neighboring countries. They have long, common borders and political cooperation arising from common interests," said Nasir Kanani, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said at today's weekly press conference, APA's Tehran bureau reports.

"We think some misunderstandings between the two countries should be resolved through negotiations. "The Azerbaijani side has taken positive steps in this regard, and Iran, as before, is following this framework," he said.

Kanani refuted allegations regarding cold relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, saying that despite some misunderstandings, relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are normal.

In connection with the trilateral meeting of Iranian parliament speaker Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf with Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkiye, he said that holding several bilateral meetings at international meetings is natural, and there are favorable conditions for such a meeting.
