January 20 tragedy commemorated in Washington --PHOTO

ADA University Center in Washington hosted an event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the January 20 tragedy on January 20 at the, Azerbaijani Embassy in US told APA.

The teacher staff from ADA University and various regions of Azerbaijan who attended the training program in the United States, Embassy staff, members of the Azerbaijani community, and representatives of the US community attended the event.

Candles were lit for the victims of the January 20 tragedy and their memory was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Opening the event, ADA University Vice-Rector Galib Mammad stressed that the date of January 20, 1990, will never be erased from our memory, and spoke about the invaluable role of our compatriots who sacrificed their lives that day in establishing an independent Azerbaijan.

Later, Azerbaijani teachers visiting the United States as part of ADA University's "One Teacher's Manifesto" project spoke about the events of January 20 and said that they remembered those days with deep sorrow.

At the end of the event, a memorial service was held in memory of the victims of the January 20 tragedy.
