"Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Union (EU) remains Azerbaijan's largest trading partner," said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in a joint press statement with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell, APA reports.

"The EU is the biggest investor in our country with more than 700 companies. The volume of investments exceeds tens of billions. Energy remains a central pillar of the EU-Azerbaijan partnership. Our energy cooperation in the energy field was further strengthened by the new Memorandum of Understanding signed yesterday by President Ilham Aliyev and Ursula von der Leyen. We are developing our strategic partnership with the Southern Gas Corridor, the largest energy and infrastructure project in Europe, which aims to bring alternative gas volumes to the European market. The implementation of interconnectors to Greece and Bulgaria is an indicator of the diversification of the Southern Gas Corridor," the minister noted.
