"This is my first visit to Azerbaijan. I got acquainted with the city and had a good time in your beautiful windy city," said US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried at a press conference, APA reports.
She recalled that her visit also coincides with the 30th anniversary of US-Azerbaijani diplomatic relations.
According to Karen Donfried, the United States is the most important country that supports democracy and independence in Azerbaijan.
She recalled her meeting with President Ilham Aliyev yesterday and added that extensive discussions were held with the Azerbaijani President.
The Assistant Secretary of State noted that the President of Azerbaijan shared his views on the Caucasus.
Karen Donfried stressed that approach of the President Ilham Aliyev to the Caucasus is aimed at integration and peace in the region.
"The Biden administration is committed to working with countries in the region for regional integration and peace," she said.
