"At the same time, of course, cooperation between states is implemented in solving such issues," said Khalaf Khalafov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in an interview with journalists, APA reports.
Khalaf Khalafov said that Azerbaijan plans to use international mechanisms to solve this crime:
"Under the circumstances, the President of Azerbaijan made this decision, although it was difficult, that our embassy in Tehran must be evacuated. Of course, it is a very responsible decision for an embassy in any country to stop the activity of a diplomatic representation.
However, you should know that we have brought this to the attention of the Iranian side that we do not have trust, confidence, and faith in the Iranian side regarding the protection of our embassy and the safety of our employees working for the embassy.
Why do we say this? Because we have repeatedly brought to the attention of the Iranian side that there are threats against the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the territory of Iran. We demanded from Iran to increase security measures. Yesterday's incident demonstrates Iran's carelessness and irresponsibility and this led to a terrorist act."
