“Decision was made whom Garabagh belongs to,” spokesman for Kremlin Dmitry Peskov said, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, the key issue has been resolved and Armenia recognized that Garabagh belongs to Azerbaijan.
"Now, unlikely, anyone will undertake to indicate the time of the conclusion of the peace treaty. But if we take into account that the main issue of whom Garabagh belongs to, it has been resolved. This was resolved and settled by Armenia's decision to recognize Garabagh as belonging to Azerbaijan, and then it can be said that an important progress was made," the official representative of the Kremlin stressed.
Peskov also noted that there are many technical issues remaining for the conclusion of the work on this agreement (peace agreement-ed): “But all the prerequisites exist for this and if there is a goodwill, reaching the finish line will be possible. We think that this, in any way, will meet the interests of Azerbaijani and Armenian nations and the Armenians who do live and will live in Garabagh.”
The Kremlin spokesman also spoke about the meeting between representatives of the Armenian residents of Garabagh and the official Baku in Yevlakh today: “Legal interests and security of the Armenian-origin residents of Garabagh should be ensured. This kind of understanding exists on the Azerbaijani side. You see, the Azerbaijani side took the initiative to hold this meeting and organized it. Therefore, now there is hope that these negotiations will yield results," he concluded.
