The West wants to destroy the 3+3 format of cooperation in the South Caucasus, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint press conference on the results of his talks with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, APA reports.

"As for the possibility of South Caucasus cooperation with the West, I can say that the West has completely discredited itself. We see the goals of the West in the South Caucasus. The West does not hide it at all, it declares it openly. It aims to separate Russia from the South Caucasus. Russia promotes the "3+3" format with Armenia and other countries of the region. The Georgian side is still thinking about joining this format. However, the first meeting took place. The doors remain open for Tbilisi. We are currently working on holding the second meeting."

Lavrov said that the West already wants to destroy the "3+3" format: "The West is actively working to destroy this structure. The West intends to extend its services to three South Caucasus countries. The European Union and the United States claim to assert their hegemony far beyond their borders by trampling on the legal interests of the three neighboring countries of the region, Russia, Turkey and Iran. Therefore, I do not see the possibility of developing any dialogue regarding the South Caucasus, and to be honest, I do not see the need for it at all. Dialogue with the West is not possible, nor necessary, not only in relation to the South Caucasus, but also in relation to other issues on the international and regional agenda.
